The founder and first shareholder of Inditex, Amancio Ortega, has purchased his first logistics warehouse in Europe in the Netherlands for around 105 million euros, as confirmed to Europa Press by sources familiar with the operation.
Specifically, Ortega, through his investment arm Pontegadea, has closed the purchase of his first logistics investment outside the United States.
The property, a 103,000 square meter logistics Phone Lead platform, is located in the Dutch town of Venlo, rented to the transport and logistics firm DSV until 2033, according to React News.
On May 2, Ortega received a total of 1,108.5 million euros for the first remuneration of the year that Inditex will pay to its shareholders, which represents half of what it will receive in dividends from the Galician firm this year.
Specifically, the businessman will receive 2,217 million euros this year in dividends from the company, above the 1,718 million he received for this concept last year.
The founder of Inditex invests part of the dividends he receives from the textile company in the real estate sector through his investment firm Pontegadea Inmobiliaria.
Ortega owns the largest Spanish real estate company, focused on the purchase and management of large buildings, with a portfolio of real estate assets mainly made up of office, non-residential buildings, located in the center of large cities in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia.
While in Catalonia, the Generalitat of Catalonia, as in Madrid, is the largest landlord in the region through three public companies: the Agència de l'Habitatge de Cataluña (5,435), the Incasòl (5,044) and the Consorci of the Barri de la Mina, an entity established together with the Barcelona Provincial Council and the town councils of Sant Adrià de Besòs and Barcelona. Between the three entities, the Generalitat has 10,731 rented homes, according to Civio data.
